How to Enjoy a Holiday in St. Lucia

We visited St. Lucia for our first Caribbean getaway as a couple. After searching for a place where we could enjoy the beach without the crowds, we decided it was the destination for us–quiet, sunny, and endless amount of ocean and rainforest views.

My favorite part about this island is that you have both the rainforest and the beach, particularly in the southern part. Due to the higher elevation around the area of our resort, the landscape is quite lush and there are many species of birds nearby. We saw hummingbirds and several other kinds of birds while sitting and drinking coffee on the front porch of our cottage every morning.

It was by far the most beautiful place I’ve ever been.

Since the island can be remote in some parts, I saw reviews that some guests did not like that. If you are the type of vacationer that likes night life, I would probably recommend staying in the northern part of the island or book a resort that offers night entertainment. Part of the appeal of where we stayed was that it was quiet, so you could enjoy yourself and relax.

There are several excursions that go out everyday to different parts of the island. We did a morning snorkel trip by boat to the Pitons and also a day trip to the north for shopping and exploring sites like Pigeon Island.

Although there was more we would have liked to see, we felt two day trips was enough. Vacation is about relaxing, so try to avoid the temptation to overbook yourself… you can always go back!
